It makes me less emotional to see them turn every single moment into a Big Moment. Andy gets emotional watching the collection.ĮVERYONE has been emotional this season. I like his music, but it’s also pretty subdued. I love the silver and I love the hairpieces, but I will never care for that particular shade of green. The silver jewelry helps a lot.Īndy says his collection is inspired by his Laotian heritage and background. Does that say it all about Gretchen? I actually like a lot of her collection, but I’m never going to be into the diaper trend. The music is so mellow it makes me sleepy. Gretchen gets emotional introducing her collection, “Running Through Thunder,” which is about the road she’s taken. Thankfully we don’t usually have to deal with “The Fairy Job Mother” promos, using “Project Runway” rejects for cross-Lifetime purposes. Mondo, you are still a winner.Įvery season there’s always some crap backstage at the finale show. Even if you’re like me and you don’t love his fashion, you love his transformation from lonely kid to confident man, announcing his HIV positive status through a work of art. No matter what, this is going to be Mondo’s season. I’m just never going to be into that shade of green. I would’ve put him first except for that green. My beloved Andy South, 23, of Waianae, Hawaii, took third. He has the quirky personality and the inspirational back story. Plus, Mondo looks the part of a fresh new designer. That’s something I loved about Season 7 winner Seth Aaron Henderson, whose work I do love. His style is so strong and unique and easily identifiable as Mondo. He was not only the clear winner of several “Project Runway” challenges, viewers chose him as the clear winner too. Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of Mondo’s prints, but it was obvious that he should win. (But what’s this about Jessica’s sister wearing Gretchen’s clothes?) The Marie Claire connection probably helped there. Michael Kors and Nina Garcia fought for Gretchen Jones and her commercial collection focused on what’s happening now in the fashion world. I’m over this bitch, at long last.Jessica and Heidi Klum loved Mondo, especially his polka dot dress. Now, my love for Tim not withstanding, I still don’t think I’m going to watch next season. If Tim thinks you are a crappy designer, you are one. He’s the Greek chorus of Project Runway – he stands in for the audience in real time, and Tim thinks you’re smoking crack, then you are totally a crackhead. *Gunn wraps up by offering this final, “oh well” take on the judges’ decision: “Mondo will do fabulously anyway, and Gretchen really needs the money.” When the two agreed on the Mondo question, Gunn reports that Klum asked him, “Can you remove my crack-smoker badge?” Gunn responded, “Yes, because Nina and Michael are smoking enough for all of us!” Times, about “crack smoking judges” - a reference to how much he disagreed with many of the judging panel’s decisions this season. *At the time, Klum was upset with Gunn about a quote of his, published in the L.A. Subsequently, Gunn reports, “I went with Heidi and we made quite a case for our candidate.” When she learned that he agreed with her that Mondo should win, she asked him to join her in appealing directly to Garcia and Kors in favor of crowning him the winner. *When the show’s judging panel was deadlocked, Klum asked Gunn what his opinion was. Also – why did the PR producers edit Tim out of the judging? I would have loved to have seen Tim trying to reason with the Kors and Garcia beasts, and it would have made for interesting television. He complains about Nina Garcia and Michael Kors’ blatant hypocrisy, gives a nudge to Jessica Simpson, and basically sounds as displeased as all of us that Gretchen won. Tim crams a lot of bitching into a short monologue. In this video, Tim is addressing an audience gathered for an event for Kate Spade in Pennsylvania. Go here for my thoughts on the finale – and here for a bitchy post-victory interview Gretchen did. The unprofessional, tacky, budget, nasty, two-faced wench known as Gretchen Jones. Below is a video that NY Magazine’s Vulture column & Dlisted just got their hands on – Tim Gunn discussing the past season of Project Runway, and last week’s big reveal that the winner was… the bitch everybody hated.
